Equity allocations will consist of a diversified portfolio of common stocks and/or equity Exchange Traded Funds (“ETFs”) as described within the menu tabs for each strategy. ETFs may track broad indices (i.e. S&P 500 or Russell 2000), industry segments (i.e. energy, healthcare or retail), strategies (i.e. dividend, value, or growth) countries or specific regions (i.e. U.K, Europe, Emerging Markets) or commodities (i.e. metals or agricultural). Utilizing ETFs can be an inexpensive and tax efficient method for establishing a diversified portfolio with a single security
Maidstone utilizes quantitative screening and fundamental analysis in evaluating investment candidates. Once a individual security is determined to be consistent with our investment requirements, we check correlations and industry concentrations relative to the existing portfolio. Technical analysis and monitoring of company specific events such as earnings announcements and industry conferences are used to find attractive entry times and prices.
Individual stocks will be high-conviction ideas (see “Articles and Links” tab for Best Ideas Whitepaper) and may be a meaningful part of each equity allocation. When considered alongside ETFs, they will help create a well-diversified portfolio within a particular equity strategy. Each taxable portfolio will be managed to minimize the negative impact of taxes.
