Stephen (“Steve”) Lulla
Steve founded Maidstone in December of 2017 and brings with him over 30 years of investment management and entrepreneurial experience. Before joining the firm, he had spent two years as Principal and Member of the Investment Committee at Weatherhelm Capital Management where he worked closely with clients in all aspects of their personal and professional financial lives. Steve spent over 15 years in senior roles within the hedge fund industry for firms with up to $400 million under management. He was a Senior Analyst for Arklow Capital, a long/short equity fund, and Mallet Capital Management, an event-driven fund, and has analyzed companies across all industry segments. Steve has experience in analyzing all parts of corporate capital structures and in valuing both public and private companies. While performing as an analyst at both funds, he concurrently served in the roles of Chief Financial and Chief Compliance Officer and has a deep fundamental understanding of investment operations and risk management. Steve has founded several companies and has consulted for startups on strategic, financial, operational and fundraising matters.
Steve earned a M.B.A. in Finance from New York University’s Stern School of Business and a B.S. in Finance from the University of Maryland, College Park.
Steve is a competitive tennis player, an avid hiker and cyclist and a former Ironman Triathlete. He and his family are active supporters and have served on the Boards of several local charities including the Hubbard Hall Center for Arts and Education and the Mary McClellan Foundation. The Lulla family has opened their home to “Fresh Air Fund” children since they moved to Cambridge with its abundance of fresh air in 2010. Steve also enjoys spending time with his family and dogs exploring the mountains and lakes of upstate New York and Vermont.
